Timberwolves Sign Bonzi Wells, Malcolm Lee

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran Bonzi Wells, who hasn't played in the NBA since 2008.

The forward signed his camp contract Thursday, allowing him to try to mount a comeback but not guaranteeing a spot on the team.

The 35-year-old Wells earned a reputation as a hothead during his earlier years with the Portland Trail Blazers. But he connected with new Minnesota coach Rick Adelman during stops in Sacramento and Houston, and the Wolves hope he can add some veteran toughness to a very young team.

They already have a roster of 15 players with contracts for this season, so if they want to keep Wells, they would have to move or waive another player.

Minnesota also completed a three-year deal with second-round pick Malcolm Lee.
