$28M Federal Grant Given To Minneapolis Schools

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis will have a lot more money to improve its schools thanks to a federal grant.

On Monday, Assistant Deputy Education Secretary Jim Shelton stopped by the Elizabeth Hall International School with a big check.

The $28 million grant is part of the education department's "Promise Neighborhoods" grant.

The goal is to help students have better tools for learning.

There were more than 200 applications for the grant, but only a select few were chosen.
