LAKE CITY (WCCO) — The entire community of Lake City is now rallying around wounded Officer Shawn Schneider and his family.

Schneider was shot in the head following a domestic disturbance call Monday. He is now in critical condition at the medical center’s St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Now, his supporters are many, including the students at Bluff View Elementary School, where two of his kids go to school.

Schneider is a fixture at his kids’ school and was always seen picking them up and patrolling around the school in the morning.

All the students wanted to show their support, so they made dozens of cards in class.

“They wanna make sure that he’s OK and that someone’s looking over him and his family,” said Jim Borgschatz, Bluff View Elementary School Principal.

To show support, Lake City Mayor Jerry Dunbar said he’d like all the city’s residents to leave their porch lights on for three days.

“It’s a close knit community and we will get closer and stronger as a result of this,” said Dunbar.

Well BIlly…its because if a person will shoot a cop…he will do anything. He will kill and do what ever he wants. He has no regard to the law in any manner. He also has nothing to live for. Oh and by the way….white men also mug old ladies at grovery stores…
