Minneapolis Woman Celebrates 105th Birthday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The year was 1906. San Francisco was still recovering from the Great Earthquake and Albert Einstein first introduced his Theory of Relativity. It was also the year that Minnie Turner was born.

On Tuesday, Mother Turner, as she's known, celebrated her 105th birthday at her nursing home in Minneapolis.

Minnie was not able to have children of her own. So, she and her husband adopted and raised four children. She was also a foster mother to more than 30 kids. Her daughter, Monique, spoke at her small birthday party.

She also looked out for all the children in the neighborhood.

Minnie says God has given her long life. Her daughters say the thing that makes her so special is that her home, and her heart, was always open.
