MAHTOMEDI, Minn. (WCCO) – It appears as though the folks at Betty’s Pies have run out of dough, as the company is losing its lease in Mahtomedi.

According to the Pioneer Press, Bank Mutual launched eviction proceedings against the famous pie shop. The bank claims Betty’s owed more than $281,000 in back rent.

The owners say the location in Mahtomedi has struggled since opening three years ago.

They told the Pioneer Press that they agreed to close up shop, but they may look for another spot in the Twin Cities.

All pre-orders at the Mahtomedi shop will be filled, and you can still get Betty’s Pies delivered from the Two Harbors location.

No surprise! They have been there for 3 years. I have bought pies there, they were terrible! I ordered 4 pumkin pies for Thanksgiving. I gave some to my neighbors. We all still laugh about them today. They were the worse pies one could imagine. I figure if the several pies I have purchased there the past few years, there must be others.

I bought two pies there and after a slice of each, I tossed the rest in the freezer for bear bait! Funny, I only attracted racoons this year. Those pies were worse than terrible!

I have picked up a few pies there and never had any issue with them, they all were just liked I remembered having in Two Harbors.

I really wanted to like them, they are so,close to our house bit expensive mediocre food and terrible customer service killed it for me. It will be a bummer to nave that space empty though.
