Police Ask For Help ID'ing Attempted Rape Suspect

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis Police are asking the public for help identifying an attempted rape suspect.

Police released surveillance photos of a man they believe attempted to rape a 16-year-old who was returning home on a Metro Transit bus last Friday morning.

The attempted assault happened after the girl exited the bus near 46th Street East and Chicago Avenue South at about 5 a.m.

The man allegedly tackled the girl in an alley and exposed himself before abandoning the area.

Police describe the attacker as an 18- to 25-year-old black male with either a mole or birthmark on his nose. He was wearing a dark knit cap and a puffy down-type jacket.

Anyone with any information on the attack should call police at 612-673-2358.
