Hospital Fined For Abuse Of Mentally Ill Patients

ST. PETER, Minn. (WCCO) -- A Minnesota hospital has been fined and placed on conditional status after accusations of workers abusing two mentally ill patients.

The complaint centers around Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter, which houses the state's most dangerous mentally ill patients who have been committed by the court.

In one case, a patient was forced to sleep on a concrete slab for 25 nights.

The latest findings and violations were released on Thursday. According to the Star Tribune, the employees accused in the abuse are still working at the hospital.

The state handed down the highest fine it could -- $2,200 -- and the hospital's license was placed on conditional status for two years.
