Fire Destroys Flour Mill In Central Minnesota

FREEPORT, Minn. (WCCO) -- Firefighters in central Minnesota spent most of Tuesday battling a massive fire a historic flour mill.

Authorities responded to a fire at about 4:30 p.m. at the Swany White Flour Mill in Freeport. When they arrived, the mill was completely engulfed in flames on all three of its levels. The mill covers a full city block of Main Street in Freeport.

Reports from the scene say that the building collapsed about two hours after the fire was reported. Freeport is a small town about 30 miles west of St. Cloud.

It is not known if anyone has been injured in the fire, but pictures show that the mill is likely destroyed as a result of the blaze. Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
