HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) – An Owatonna, Minn. man has been charged with driving while intoxicated on Christmas Day with his 2-year-old son in the car.
According to the criminal complaint, police pulled over a vehicle Sunday evening near County Road 50 and Denmark Avenue in Farmington. The car was observed swerving back and forth before fishtailing on a gravel road.
The officer said the driver, 22-year-old Ahmed Stanley, demonstrated slow reaction times and was slurring his speech.
The officer said there was a 2-year-old child in the vehicle, as well as an open, partially full beer container on the floor.
Stanley was taken into custody. The officer said he became violent upon being arrested and slammed his head into the squad car’s back partition. A blood alcohol test later revealed Stanley had a BAC level of 0.15.
The child was returned to the custody of his mother.
Stanley has been charged with two gross misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired, one gross misdemeanor count of child endangerment and one misdemeanor count of driving with an open container of alcohol.
