2 In Custody After Armed Robbery In Beltrami County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two men were arrested Friday night after an apparent armed robbery in Turtle Lake Township, according to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened at about 9:08 p.m. Friday at a business on the 13000 block of Irvine Avenue North in Turtle Lake Township. Authorities said two suspects wearing ski masks, one with a sawed-off shotgun and the other with a knife, entered and robbed the business. The suspects then fled the scene with cash in a stolen pickup truck.

Authorities located the truck about 1.5 miles northwest of the business, and the two suspects were scene running east into some woods. A residential area was put on a brief lockdown while authorities searched for the suspects.

Less than an hour after the robbery, the suspects were located and arrested about 10 miles north of Bemidji without incident. Jason Lee King, 21 of Red Lake, is in custody at the Beltrami County Jail. A 16-year-old male is also in custody in a juvenile detention center.

The two could face charges including aggravated robbery, felony vehicle theft, aggravated assault and other charges. Authorities believe the two could also be responsible for similar robberies in the area involving sawed-off shotguns.
