Father, Son Fall Through Ice On Pelican Lake
ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (WCCO) -- A father was able to rescue his 5-year-old son after the two of them fell through the ice on Pelican Lake over the weekend, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
Timothy McCauley, 39, was on the east side of Pelican Lake with his son Gavin early Saturday morning when, according to authorities, he drove his ATV into a pressure ridge and fell through the ice.
The sheriff's office reported Timothy McCauley was able to grab his son and escape by climbing onto his portable fish house, which was still attached.
Grant County Sheriff Dwight Walvatne reminded that no travel is advised on lakes within the county, due to ice heaves and open water.
