Excedrin Maker Issues Recall After Broken Pills Reports

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A large drug company is voluntarily recalling four different drug products in the United States after consumers complained of chipped and broken pills in their bottles.

Novartis Consumer Health Inc. (NCH) is recalling Excedrin and NoDoz products with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2014 or earlier, and Bufferin and Gas-X Prevention products with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2013 or earlier.

NCH said that those products may contain stray tablets, capsules or caplets from other products.

Consumers are asked to destroy those products or return them if unused.

The company says it has also suspended operations at its Lincoln, Neb., facility in order to make improvements.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is working with NCH through this process, the company said.
