ST. PAUL (WCCO) — A man is in the hospital in serious condition after trying to stop his friend from driving drunk.

Police say 24-year-old Jason Schultz dragged his friend, Kyle Kissinger, about two blocks, as Kissinger was hanging out of his vehicle.

Kissinger was trying to stop Schultz from driving because he said he had too much too drink.

Police were called around 2:30 a.m. Friday on a report of a man lying in the street near Oakdale Avenue and Haskell Street in West St. Paul.

Authorities found the victim, later identified as Kissinger, who said he was dragged about two blocks by a vehicle. Kissinger said they were previously at the Commercial Club Bar on the 900 block of South Robert Street.

Kissinger was transported to the hospital with injuries. He is currently in serious condition.

Police tracked down Schultz and arrested him. He is currently in the Dakota County Jail awaiting possible charges.

    1. accidental resident says:

Nope, he should have let the jerk drive off while he dialed 911. He wouldn’t be in the hospital that way.

Believe it, or not, this is a serious problem! Yes, we should all do what we can to stop friends from driving under the influence. Yet, YOU clowns make light of this incident. Would you be so eager IF this were your brother, son ,or childs Father? I HOPE the friend recovers fully, and Jason is punished for his stupidity! I wonder will they still be friends after this!

  10. Ain't got time to be searched says:

I think you can officially take the word “friend” out of the title. :0

  12. get a grip says:

I went to school with both as well..its amazing how fast people are to talk smakck and judge on which they dont know

    1. Real Talk says:

Umm….they drunk a-hole dragged his friend for two blocks because he tried to stop him from driving.

What else do we need to know before we can make a judgement? Enlighten us smart guy?

PS…by going to “school” with this guy, i assume you meant middle school. As it is extremely unlike that either of you possess an education level higher than 8th grade. Just sayin.

      1. meh says:

Let’s not forget the people involved in this terrible accident are people with friends, family, and a life. I understand how easy it is to just jump to the conclusion that Jason is a terrible person, but as far as I’m concerned no one here knows the entire story. Alcohol does bad things to people. I think most of us can say we have experienced someone making a terrible decision while under the influence of alcohol. A decision they would have never considered making when they were sober. I was also friends with them in middle school and attended the same middle school. I’m just saying. This is an awful story, but let’s not pass judgement when we only know what the news tells us.

        1. it's a comment board says:

Wow,it took until 10:48 pm for the “who are you to judge” speech. Just sayin.

    2. Erica says:

Are you serious? ah… poor druck driver, you’re right. Spare him any punishment. You sound like a complete idiot.

    3. tired of f ing idiots says:

i agree the both served our country together and now ppl that know them both and also ones that dont know either one want to judge.

  16. GH says:

You must have some mental problems!! Maybe you should’ve been dragged instead.

  17. markH says:

Yeah, and marijuana is illegal. Think about how many times each day/week/month that alcohol is responsible for a death(s), lost jobs, lost productivity, etc. Now, just ask yourself how many people die in marijuana-related car crashes each year. We spend tens of millions of dollars every year in our court system and prison system locking up people for using something that if no less harmful than alcohol, certainly no more so. This is insanity. As a taxpayer, I want certain drugs (marijuana for one) to be legalized so it can be taxed and the criminal element associated with its production and distribution will plummet.

It’s apparent you’ve never had the ‘pleasure’ of living next to a grow operation and the noxious odors they emit. And I’m not talking about sweet tweed.
