Update On Injured Teen Hockey Players

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The hockey community continues to support the two high school players that suffered serious injuries on the ice.

Jack Jablonski, who suffered a severed spinal cord on Dec. 30, is making improvements in tiny increments. His mother, Leslie Jablonski, said her son moved both his arms Saturday. It was something Leslie Jablonski described as miraculous.

The Hennepin County Medical Center also upgraded Jablonski's condition Saturday from critical to serious.

On Friday, St. Croix Lutheran senior Jenna Privette also suffered a spinal injury during a game. Her father, Dan Privette, said his daughter's legs are numb, but she does have feeling in her arms. Tests have also shown that Privette suffered no broken bones.

Doctors are waiting until the swelling in her body goes down to get a better idea on how her recovery will progress.

Tributes For Jablonski

Tributes for Jablonski are popping up all over the Twin Cities. One alighted on a bridge over Highway 100, just down the road from his school. Another display popped up a few miles south in Edina on a walking bridge over the same highway. Both displays spelled out Jab -- Jablonski's nickname -- with red plastic cups.

A fundraiser in St. Paul was held for Jablonski at Soapy Joe's Carwash on West 7th Street. The carwash has only been open for one week, but the owner – Bill Lindsay, who is a self-described hockey guy – felt moved by Jablonski's injury. He is donating all of this weekend's proceeds to a fund to help Jablonski's family.

"They can't believe that somebody this far away would want to be involved in doing something for the family, and i think it's just the tip of the iceberg," Lindsay said. "I think you're going to see this going on all over town, so it just gives us a great feeling to be able to participate."
