BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — A 44-year-old South Dakota man has been charged in connection with a carjacking and three home invasions in Bloomington Saturday.

William Roy St. John of Sisseton, S.D. faces four counts of first-degree aggravated robbery, three counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of attempted robbery.

According to the criminal complaint, St. John’s spree began with a carjacking of a Cadillac in a parking lot of a restaurant in Bloomington. Then, he drove to two different houses and ran to a third. Each time, he burst into the home, told the occupants he had a gun and demanded money and car keys.

St. John was caught when the residents of the third house knocked him down and held him.

St. John is being held in the Hennepin County Jail. His first court appearance is being scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
