ANOKA, Minn. (WCCO) — It’s not often the weather is nice enough to play golf in January.
But conditions were more than good enough Tuesday for golfers to tee it up at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka. Plenty of players took full advantage of the rare opportunity.
“I got here this morning and sat at my desk phone at about 8:15. I didn’t move for about an hour and a half,” said Larry Norland, the general manager at Greenhaven Golf Course. “There was a lot of interest for people to come out and play. It was fantastic, this is fun.”
“I think this is great, I love it. In a January temp, I’ve never done it,” said golfer Jim Petersen. “It was a wonderful day, and the game doesn’t matter.”
Players needed some help getting their tees into the ground because of the hard ground, but they found a way.
Norland said Tuesday was a one day only deal for golfers. Greenhaven will be closed again for the season starting on Wednesday and back open in the spring.
