Wis. DNR Seeks Input On Lake St. Croix Plan

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin water quality officials are seeking public comments on a plan to clean up Lake St. Croix.

Minnesota and Wisconsin water officials have developed a pollution-reduction plan for the lake that calls for a 20 percent reduction in phosphorus entering the St. Croix River basin. Wisconsin water officials estimate reaching that goal will require a 35 percent to 40 percent reduction in phosphorus from point and non-point sources.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has scheduled public meetings on the plan in Hudson and Siren on Jan. 31. People can submit written comments to the DNR through Feb. 10.
