Driver Killed In Eau Claire Crash With Semi ID'd

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WCCO) — Authorities have identified the driver who died after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a semi truck near Eau Claire, Wis.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the crash happened Thursday afternoon.

A Toyota Yaris being driven by 31-year-old Marissa Drew of Waukesha, Wis. lost control traveling westbound on Interstate 94 over the Chippewa River. The vehicle then traveled through the median and was struck by an eastbound semi truck.

Upon collision, the semi overturned and struck the guardrail and bridge, coming to a rest blocking both lanes of traffic.

Drew was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 54-year-old Eugene Marier, was taken to Mayo Clinic on Eau Claire, Wis. with non-life threatening injuries.
