UND Defenseman Blood Disciplined For Bad Behavior

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — University of North Dakota hockey coach Dave Hakstol has disciplined senior defenseman Ben Blood for his behavior following the team's loss to Minnesota on Saturday night.

Blood got into an altercation with Gophers forward Seth Ambroz in the handshake line following Minnesota's 6-2 victory. Hakstol says he revoked Blood's status as an assistant team captain.

Hakstol says the handshake line is a "traditional, gentlemanly part of our game," and that Blood's actions weren't acceptable. He says Blood will be subject to more team discipline that won't be made public.

Blood issued a statement saying he isn't proud of his behavior, and that he won't let his emotions get the best of him in the future. He says he understands and respects his punishment.
