MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Three Minnesota companies have been called among the 100 best places to work, according to Fortune Magazine.

General Mills was one of the three, marking its fifth consecutive year for the honor. General Mills has been included on the annual list 10 times since 1998.

The company was ranked 63rd on the overall list, which ranked Google at the top, followed by Boston Consulting Group and SAS Institute.

According to Fortune, General Mills for focusing on “careers, not jobs.” The magazine reported 85 percent of their officers were promoted from within.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized by Fortune for our commitment to making General Mills a great place to work for all employees,” said Mike Davis, a global human resources executive at General Mills.

Two other Minnesota companies joined General Mills on the list.

Allianz Life Insurance, which is headquartered in Golden Valley, was ranked the 51st best company. Fortune praised the company for its commitment to developing and celebrating its employees.

Also, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester was ranked 71st. Fortune cited the loyalty the clinic engenders in its workforce.
