MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Freezing rain is expected to move across the Twin Cities Sunday morning and afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the freezing drizzle will develop and then spread across the area, becoming more widespread by this afternoon and evening.

Some icing will likely occur on roads and sidewalks. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible.

The freezing rain and icy conditions warning also applies to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

The freezing drizzle is expected to turn over into snow later Sunday evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 4 p.m. until noon on Monday for Rock County, Lyon County, Lincoln County, Cottonwood County, Pipestone County, Murray County, Nobles County and Jackson County.

Drivers should be cautious and anticipate road conditions to deteriorate throughout the evening.
