MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minneapolis Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a 10-year-old girl who was last seen Sunday morning.

Police say the girl was last seen near Lake Street and Pillsbury Avenue South around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say the girl, Namo Abdinur Ahmed, was getting out of a car in the parking lot with her mother and siblings and was walking ahead of them to a nearby location for religious classes.

Police were called after it was reported that the girl never made it to class.

Police have been going door-to-door to spread the word of the missing girl and are using a canine to try and track where she might have gone.

So far, none of these efforts have turned up any leads.

Namo, who also goes by Naimo or Nimo, is about 4-foot-8 to 4-foot-10 with a lighter build, medium brown complexion and was last seen wearing a full length black dress, pink shoes, a dark-colored head covering and carrying a purple or pink backpack.

Anyone with information about Namo’s whereabouts should call 911 in the city of Minneapolis, or 612-673-2345 from outside the city.

Really? That’s the best you could come up with? If you’re going to be an ignorant a** about this I would think you could at least make it about terrorism or something. People like you are what is wrong with this country. I have Muslim friends and they are not forced to wear the hijab. One of them has eaten pork, and they question things all the time. The Census Bureau estimated in October 2011 that there were more than 32,000 people of Somali ancestry in Minnesota (largest in America). Can you provide me with one act of so-called honor killings taking place amongst this community in Minnesota? Let me guess your bright mind figures this is the first one?

Muslim honor killings are a myth and it does not happen. It is a culture issue – occurring in the Middle East and some other parts of Asia. Where people are concerned with what their family and community will think and not God.

In fact, Indonesia has the largest Muslim population! Do we hear news coming from there?

I apologize for disrupting this thread as I cannot imagine the pain this young girl’s family is going through. I’ll keep her in my prayers and hope for her safe return.

Last seen@ 10am today. By 3pm, WCCO already has a story on it. WCCO sure is quick to act when it makes them look good to the Somali community. Same goes for the police. Guaranteed that there is special treatment going on.

There are some things missing in this story. No one just disappears.
How far behind were her family? HOw long does it take to get out of a vehicle and walk to destination not far away.
It does’t make sense to me. Maybe to others it does.

I just can’t even begin to understand the the level of hate and absolute compound ignorance that it takes to see the victim and her family here as the other and less than human. With the many many many ills that our country has to offer here and abroad you still think that somehow might makes you right , or your supposed forwardness is indeed forward, better look again people American people are entering the religion of Islam in droves, I would start to wonder why is that, if this religion is indeed everything that I have been led to believe and espouse on the rest of the world why are more and more absolutely inteligent educated westerners from all over the world joining it’s ranks. Who cares what race, sex , religion or where this child descends from , she is a missing child !!!! Instead of showing ignorance why not make ourselves all useful and make sure this little girl gets back to her family !!!!!! My heart goes out to the family of this child as it does to any family with a lost child . A lost child is a lost child that is the bottom line !!!!!
