St. Paul Winter Carnival Hosts Weekend Of Activities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The St. Paul Winter Carnival Grand Day parade is Saturday afternoon and is just one of several activities that will take place as part of the carnival.

Ashleigh Hayes was crowned Queen of the Snows Friday night, and Steve Cortinas was crowned King Boreas the 76th.

"Our purpose is to bring sounds of fun to St. Paul as we will for these 10 days and throughout the year, not only here but throughout the United States," said Cortinas, who is an executive with Dakota Premium Foods in South St. Paul.

Queen of the Snows winner Ashleigh Hayes said part of her mission is to "spread the joy of St. Paul."

This is the 126th St. Paul Winter Carnival with this year's theme, "The Coolest Celebration on Earth." It runs through Feb. 5.
