T-Wolves Players Cook With Kids For A Cause
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Timberwolves have been hot on the court, and Saturday some players heated things up off the court, cooking for a cause.
The team sponsored a cooking class Way-Cool Cooking School in Savage. The class showed kids with juvenile diabetes how to cook health, delicious food.
Every year, 13,000 children develop juvenile (Type 1) diabetes – a disease that affects 3 million Americans.
For 9-year-old Hannah Timeron, of Savage, said the class was a chance to remind people to be aware of diabetes – the disease that forces her to permanently wear a device that corrects her blood sugar levels.
For the Timberwolves' Derrick Williams, the cooking event was a chance for him to give something to kids that he didn't have growing up – time with professional athletes.
Forty kids attended the class.
