MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 13-year-old Whitefish Bay girl has won first place in the world’s largest student ballet competition.

Jennifer Hackbarth won first place earlier this month in the junior division at the Youth America Grand Prix in Chicago.

Hackbarth is a student at Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy and has been dancing for about 10 years.

She is now invited to the week-long finals in April at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.

The competition awards over $250,000 annually in scholarships to leading dance schools worldwide.
