Busey To Introduce '78 Holly Movie In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Actor Gary Busey will be in Minneapolis this week to introduce the movie that earned him an Academy Award nomination — "The Buddy Holly Story."

Busey portrayed Holly in the 1978 movie about the rock 'n' roll pioneer. Busey is scheduled to introduce the movie and talk about Holly before a 7 p.m. Friday screening at the Parkway Theater.

After the movie, Busey will perform a brief set of Holly songs.

The Parkway also will show the movie — without Busey present — on Thursday night.

Holly and fellow rock 'n' roll stars Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson died in a small plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, on Feb. 3, 1959.
