St. Paul Offering Incentives For Kids Eating Fruits, Veggies

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- It can be hard to get kids to eat fruits and vegetables, but there are some new incentives on the menu at schools in St. Paul.

The district is teaming up with Health Partners to launch a new pilot program Tuesday.

According to Minnesota Public Radio, it will offer new incentives to students and a system for tracking how many fruits and vegetables they eat.

Schools that take part in the pilot program have a chance to win grants worth $300 to $500.

There is a kick-off event for the four-week program Tuesday morning at Wellstone Elementary School.

The U.S. Department of Health recommends older children take in at least four servings of vegetables each day, and three servings of fruit.
