More Than $2,300 Raised For Fallen Lake City Cop's Family

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A fundraiser for the Lake City police officer killed in December raised more than $2,300 for the officer's family, which includes his wife and three young children.

Patrol Officer Shawn Schneider, 32, was shot in the head on Dec. 19 by a 25-year-old gunman while responding to a domestic disturbance. He died on Dec. 30.

The fundraiser held for Schneider's family was called the Blue Light Bulb Fundraiser.

According to Brandon Chaffins, the Douglas County deputy sheriff, more than 200 light bulbs were sold at the event.

The Douglas County Deputy Sheriff's Federation will send a check for the full amount raised at the event to Schneider's family, Chaffins said.
