Suspect Arrested After Threat Against Staffer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A suspect is in custody after an apparent threat against a staff member at St. Michael Middle School East, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities arrested the person Tuesday after the threat forced officials in the St. Michael-Albertville School District to implement extra security measures on Tuesday.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect Tuesday afternoon as 22-year-old Ariel Stephanie Rose Koenig of Alexandria. She was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats.

Superintendent Jim Behle said they learned of a vague threat referencing the staffer early Tuesday morning. Law enforcement was contacted and a search was conducted of the building, at 4862 Naber Ave. NE in St. Michael.

Everything was secure before students arrived. Students' bags were also searched before they entered the building. Behle said no other security measures were in place other than an increased police presence.

Behle wouldn't say how the threat was received but he said an investigation will likely be completed later Tuesday. Behle said Koenig is not a current student or resident in the St. Michael-Albertville School District.
