16-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Self In Foot While Hunting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 16-year-old was transported to St. Cloud Hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the foot while pheasant hunting.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Department, the hunting accident was reported around 3:15 p.m. Sunday in Glendorado Township.

The caller said his step son accidentally shot himself in the foot and needed assistance.

When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Brandon Rischmiller, of Elk River, with a gunshot wound to the foot. He told police the trigger on his gun got caught on a loop on his hunting vest and fired.

He was transported by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
