MILWAUKEE (AP) – A Wisconsin man who found a severely malnourished 15-year-old girl walking barefoot outside in pajamas says she was bleeding from a gash on her nose and crying.

Mike Vega told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the teen he found walking near her Madison home Feb. 6 also had scrapes and a big bruise on her forehead and was so scrawny he mistook her for an 8-year-old.

Vega says while they waited in his car for an ambulance to arrive, she told him her stepmother had thrown her down the basement stairs and that she escaped through a window.

Police say the girl told officers her father and stepmother had kept her confined to the basement for years and had starved her and even forced her to eat her feces.

      The way our wonderful judicial system works, it was only a crime against a child so not that big a deal. If they imbezzeled millions you would get your extra zeroes then.

    No one noticed that the child wasn’t in school? The neighbors didn’t notice that she just disappeared? Are there any relatives? No one ever bothered to visit and see that something was wrong? Wow! Too many unanswered questions.

      if one just moved into an area or there was some other type of change – notice the “step” it’s possible to sneak between the cracks even today.
      If they didn’t allow her out much it’d be pretty hard to see her now, wouldn’t it. I hat eto say this but I lived in a small town in SW Mn that had 2 similar cases in the 70′s and early 2000′s. There is way to much of this bs out there than we can comprehend. I suspect many times if not discovered it ends in an unreported death. Didn’t Jordan,MN go through a lot of this within a family clan in the 80′s too. Kathleen Morrison or someone named close to that was the prosecuter I believe.
      Thankfully a neighbor did see her and let out a shout – otherwise who knows where this may have lead…..
      Parents should be lynched. No trial, just hung as example for all the sicko and perv parents out there. I will supply the tree and you bring the rope

        as sick as this sounds I friggen cannot wait for these too pieces of human feces to get locked up. Even inside they don’t like this kind of person – with a little luck someone will take them off the taxpayer tab. No need for a headstone – just a wooden cross and the inmates will likely do it for us.

    Lots of accusations and assumptions? give me a break. The child was starving and abused and the parents are at fault. Innocent? The jury would have to be dead in their chairs to call them innocent. Quit trying to make a point and just look at the reality of the sitiuation. That childs life is ruined by them…would you want to be in her shoes?

      Sounds like you have never been on a jury. The sad part to our judicial system is it only takes one “bleeding heart” or in this case “sicko” on the jury to let them off scott free. My sister had the same problem with the jury she was on they where trying someone for drug dealing and low and behold their resident crack head juror didn’t see the problem with selling drugs so guess who was released. Moral of the story don’t expect much from our judicial system unless it is a white collar crime and you will never be disappointed. In this case I think mob justice might be a better alternative if they are let out.

    I didn’t notice anything being said about her mother? There is a lot missing and yes, hundreds of questions that need answers. I hope this child can find peace and happiness in life after being through everything she has. So many similiar stories like this it really hurts ones soul.

      Might not have to worry about her finding peace Betty. From the reports I have read other places the experts seem to think there are a lot of likely reasons she might not survive this ordeal. Apparently you can’t be starved that long without risking terminal damage to your body. My God be with the girl however this turns out.

    Does anyone else find this sadly ironic that a girl is found who would be eternally thankful to just be given a peanut butter and Jelly sandwich to eat that she didn’t have to get out of the trash, right after another girl loses her laptop because she doesn’t feel she should have to do chores? I bet if you asked the laptop girl she would probably think the injustice against her is greater than that against the starved girl.
    From the looks of the step mom she could do with being on a diet of her own feces for a year or so, in fact that might be the best suited punishment for them to do to them what they did to a child.
    For cases like this I keep looking back to my Bible and it says “vengeance is Mine saith the Lord” but at this moment I should would like to be his secretary and arrange the meeting. I think I could work them in tomorrow.
