Wis. DOJ’s Training Director Shoots His Hand

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — The training director for the Wisconsin Department of Justice is recovering from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand.

DOJ spokeswoman Dana Brueck says Tony Barthuly was cleaning his personal handgun Wednesday night at his home in Fond du Lac when it discharged.

Barthuly was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, then transferred to Appleton Medical Center and was eventually discharged. Brueck says Barthuly is back at work Friday.

Sheboygan police plan to investigate the accidental shooting because of Barthuly’s ties to Fond du Lac police as its former chief.

The 54-year-old Barthuly is the director of DOJ’s Training and Standards Bureau.

As I remember from the hunters safety I took LONG ago, the first thing you do is to make sure your gun isn’t loaded.
Maybe he was loaded when it happen.

Rule number 1 – the gun is always loaded. Rule number 2 – even when the gun is unloaded, it is always loaded. Rule number 3 – The gun is always loaded.

According to Gun rights activists, This Never Happens! The stats are that you will shoot yourself many times before you actually get the drop on someone and shoot them. Hopefully for good reason.
