SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin police have shot and killed a Minnesota man who they say raised his gun as officers tried to investigate him for an attempted car theft.
The man was identified Saturday as 34-year-old Luke Daniel Anderson of Duluth.
Superior police responding to a call Friday were told that a man took a woman’s car keys at gunpoint.
Police say he couldn’t start her car so he fled in his own vehicle. Other officers spotted the vehicle, but when they tried to stop it the suspect sped away.
He got out and ran. Police say he pointed a gun toward officers, who dropped him with multiple shots. He then placed the gun under his own chin and fired. As officers came closer he again aimed at them, so they fired again.
