Police: St. Paul Residents Find Body Near Their Garage

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- St. Paul Police are investigating a suspicious death in the city.

Police said the residents of a house on the 1100 block of Western Avenue found a man's body Sunday morning near a garage. The man's identity is not known, and there are no obvious signs of trauma on his body.

Monica Mack, who lives near the house where the body was found, said that she saw the body as she went out to fix her garage at 10 a.m. She said the body was behind her neighbor's garage.

Mack then went inside and told her son that a man was laying on his stomach with one armed pinned under his body.

Mack then went next door to tell her neighbors about the body. One of those neighbors, a man named Tom, said the body looked to be that of a 45-year-old man of average build.

Tom and the owners of the property on which the body was found said they heard two to six gunshots (or what sounded like gunshots) Thursday night. They said they haven't gone out to the garage recently because it's been iced over.

The body was dressed in winter attire, but police said they don't know how long he had been laying near the garage.

The scene where the death occurred has been cleared, police said.
