'KKK' Painted On Items In Iowa Neighborhood

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Vandals have struck a northwest Cedar Rapids neighborhood, marring vehicles, mailboxes and garage doors with the letters KKK.

Homes in the Stoney Point neighborhood have been targeted. Police have responded to at least four calls there in the past three days.

Tammy Koolbeck is one of the vandalism victims, and she says she wonders whether the vandal or vandals understand what KKK really means.

In early January residents in one northeast Cedar Rapids neighborhood found fliers on cars and doors that appeared to promote the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist organization with a bloody history.

Police are not investigating the vandalism as a hate crime. Teenagers are the suspected culprits.

Police say they doubt there's any threat to people in the neighborhood.
