MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash late Wednesday morning in Chisago County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities say the accident happened at about 11:55 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 95 and Mulberry Street in the far north metro. The State Patrol said a 66-year-old from Taylors Falls was killed when a 1997 GMC Sierra pick-up pulled out directly in front of a semi-truck and was broad-sided.
The 66-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was a passenger in the pick-up, according to the State Patrol. The driver was a 76-year-old from Taylors Falls, and neither identity has been released at this time. The driver was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and is in critical condition.
The driver of the semi, a 70-year-old man from Texas, was not hurt in the crash. The Minnesota State Partrol said the crash is still under investigation and the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office is providing assistance.
