Gophers Begin Stretch Of 27 Straight Home Games
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Gophers baseball team is about to begin a school-record 27-game homestand.
Minnesota hosts Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday, twice on Saturday and again on Sunday in a four-game series at the Metrodome. This is the 124th year of Gophers baseball as a varsity sport. Thirty-six of Minnesota's38 home games will be played at the Metrodome this season, but this weekend will be the first time the Gophers use the iconic Teflon-coated facility in downtown Minneapolis in nearly two years. It was unusable last spring after the roof collapse.
The Gophers will play one home game at the Twins' Target Field this season and another at Siebert Field on campus.
Minnesota opened the season last weekend in Florida in the Big Ten/Big East Challenge, winning once and losing twice.
