Michigan Tech Beats St. Cloud State 3-2

HOUGHTON, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Tech's Blake Pietila scored the game-winning goal late in the third period to lift Michigan Tech over St. Cloud State 3-2 Saturday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Pietila scored at 18:22 of the third period, helping Michigan Tech (14-16-4, 11-11-4) earn a split of the two-game series with St. Cloud State (14-16-4, 11-12-3). Michigan Tech moved past St. Cloud State into seventh place in the WCHA. The top six teams earn home-ice advantage in the upcoming playoffs.

Steven Seigo and Alex MacLeod also scored for Michigan Tech.

Nic Dowd and Nick Jensen scored for St. Cloud State, which won Friday's opener 5-2.

SCSU goalie Mike Lee made 25 saves, while Josh Robinson had 18 stops for Michigan Tech.
