Police Arrest Man After 2 Separate Chases

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police have taken a man into custody after two separate high-speed chases through the Twin Cities.

The chase started around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Minneapolis, when police were trying to pull over the vehicle for a minor traffic offense.

At one point, the chase was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 100.

The car got off 494 at Portland Avenue at 11:45 and nearly crashed into another vehicle. That's when officers decided it was too dangerous to continue the chase.

But less than ten minutes later, police in Eagan saw a car matching the description, and another chase started.

Five minutes later, police used stop sticks and arrested 48-year-old Steven Jones. He was booked into the Dakota County Jail for felony fleeing an officer, fifth-degree possession of drugs, reckless driving, and failure to obey traffic control devices.

Eagan Police say the five-minute chase reached speeds above 100 miles per hour.
