Shakopee Mayor Thanks SNL For Skit

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (WCCO) -- The mayor of Shakopee is thanking "Saturday Night Live" for bringing his city into the national spotlight.

Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke sent a letter to SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels thanking him for the skit, which depicts a fictional hip-hop station out of Shakopee in the middle of announcing school closings due to snow.

Tabke says it was very exciting that his town was randomly chosen, and that the show did some research and used real schools in the area.

In the letter to Lorne Michaels, Tabke thanked the show for putting Shakopee in the national spotlight, even if it was at the expense of a few well-deserved laughs.

The skit also featured Lindsay Lohan as one of the radio station's DJs.
