Jabs Cheers On Benilde Teammates At State Tourney

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Jack Jablonski watched Benilde-St. Margaret's quarterfinal game from a suite at the Xcel Energy Center.

Directly below, him his classmates wore jerseys with his name on it as they cheered on the Red Knights against Edina.

"I have really good friends on the team and they are nervous for tonight. But they are motivated, too. Everything they do is for Jabs. They want to be there for him on and off the ice," said junior Emily Egge.

"There is so much support for him at school. The whole community has changed. It's been really amazing," said junior Abby Rosengren.

Football coach Jon Hanks, whose son played hockey with Jabs, watched the game with friend Kennedy Hofmann. The two are planning a golf tournament in June to raise money for Jack's medical expenses.

After defeating Edina 3-2 in the quarterfinals, he sees no reason why the Red Knights can't win it all. Especially, with Jack on their minds.

"They can do it. Jack brought them closer with what's happened to him. I wish the best for all of them," said Hanks.
