Class 1A Semis: St. Thomas Academy 1, Breck 0

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Peter Krieger's second-period goal lifted St. Thomas Academy to a 1-0 victory over Breck in the Class 1A state semifinals on Friday.

Krieger scored with less than three minutes left in the middle frame for the second-seed and defending champion Cadets (25-5). Krieger caught a pass in the slot through traffic from Tony Bretzman and sent a shot past Breck goalie Jack Kenney, who made 30 saves.

David Zevnik posted the shutout for St. Thomas Academy, stopping 25 shots. The Cadets have blanked their opponent in nine of their last 14 games. They beat Little Falls 7-0 in the quarterfinals.

The third-seed Mustangs (25-4-1), who set their school's record with 225 goals this season, weren't able to avenge a regular-season overtime loss to St. Thomas Academy.
