MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, and there’s sure to be a lot of celebrating in the Twin Cities.
Here’s a list of some of the best St. Paddy’s Day events.
There are two St. Patrick’s Day parades happening Saturday — one for each side of the river. In St. Paul’s Lowertown, the parade travels down 5th Street between Wall and Washington streets. That starts at noon.
Fast forward to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, and there will be another parade in Minneapolis. This one travels Nicollet Mall between 13th and 5th streets. Our own Jason DeRusha will be this year’s grand marshal. He’s bringing his whole family along for the ride — and so should you!
A little earlier in the day, Cathedral of St. Paul is holding their annual St. Patrick’s Day mass starting at 9 a.m. It’s gets packed, so arrive a little early, and don’t forget to wear your green.
If you want to get a little athletic, you can run the Get Lucky 7k race — not a 5k, a 7k. The race starts at 9 a.m. in Minneapolis. There’s also a half-marathon course.
Irish dancers will be placed throughout the course to offer a little encouragement.
Afterward, there’s a post-race party at four different spots: Kieran’s Irish Pub, The Local, The Liffey and Cooper Pub.
