Homicide Victim’s Family Releases Statement

ST. PAUL (WCCO) — The family of a man killed in an apparent homicide in St. Paul has released a statement, calling the victim “deeply loved.”

The statement confirmed the victim’s identity as 38-year-old Andrew William Braun.

Officials said the incident occurred just before 2 a.m. on the 700 block of Lawson Avenue East in St. Paul. Braun was found unresponsive on the front porch. There were reportedly visible signs of a struggle.

Neighbors said they didn’t hear anything, but have seen people coming and going at different times of the day.

Braun’s family discussed the victim’s past battles with drug addiction and legal problems, but noted “he was a deeply loved father, son, nephew, cousin, friend, and loved one who once was a little boy from the east side with a big heart and curious spirit.”

The statement also said, “We should not ignore the underlying fear that consumes the entire neighborhood where Andy lived — a neighborhood held hostage by murderous thugs who are using what they did to Andy to strike fear and gain power.”

Police haven’t said whether they have a suspect in custody or a description of what they believe happened.

#1 It’s not even a mullet #2 way to be an insensitive jerk. A family just lost someone, have some respect.

I knew him, before the problems. This is an old picture. He bought a house in his early 20’s, raising a family and working hard. His end is what can happen when drugs become a way of life. Any one of us could fall to addiction. He did not deserve to die this way. I could not remain freinds with him because of the drugs. I had known this man since I was 12 years old. So I will choose to remember the good about him and not the bad. I am praying for his family.
