MSU-Moorhead Getting Sanford Scholarship Money
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Dakotas-based Sanford Health is providing $2 million for athletic scholarships at a Minnesota university.
Minnesota State University Moorhead will get $200,000 per year for the next 10 years from the health network based in Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D. The money will support existing athletic programs.
CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft says Sanford had pledged $10 million for scholarships while MSU-Moorhead was pursuing an NCAA Division I hockey program. He says that when it became clear that wasn't going to happen, Sanford was ready to "shift gears."
Sanford has provided sports medicine services for Dragon athletics for nearly two decades.
