Vikings Release Defensive Lineman Remi Ayodele

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – After just one season, the Minnesota Vikings have cut ties with Remi Ayodele.

The team released Ayodele, a defensive tackle, a year after acquiring him from the New Orleans Saints. After recording 37 tackles with the Saints two seasons ago, he managed just 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season.

Although it wasn't a contributing factor, Ayodele was also a part of the Saints' defensive unit that was the subject of scrutiny over the recent investigation of a bounty where players received cash rewards for hitting opponents with the intent to injure them.

One of the key hits in question was his hit on Brett Favre in the 2011 NFC championship game that took Favre off the field.
