20-Year-Old Charged In Deadly Cass Co. Stabbing
ONIGUM, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old man has been charged with allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old Walker man to death Wednesday night.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said police responded the stabbing around 10:15 p.m. in the Onigum area. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, who died while en route to the hospital, suffering from stab wounds.
According to the criminal complaint, Sheldon Smith stabbed the victim during an encounter between two groups of individuals, and then fled the scene with companions.
Police arrested Smith that night. He is now charged with second-degree murder.
The stabbing is still under investigation.
The victim's identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
Smith's bail has been set at $750,000 without conditions and $500,000 with conditions.
