IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A prosecutor says a 44-year-old doctor followed his ex-girlfriend to the home of her new boyfriend in a small Iowa town before killing her and committing suicide.

Buchanan County Attorney Shawn Harden said Friday that radiologist Timothy Roses, of Plano, Texas, had been in a relationship with 22-year-old Lindsay Nichols that ended in February. They met while she was studying radiography at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, where Roses worked.

Harden says Roses followed Nichols on Wednesday evening to the home of her new boyfriend in Jesup, east of Waterloo. Harden says Roses jumped out with a gun and tried to get Nichols to get in his truck before shooting her and then himself.

Harden says Nichols’ new boyfriend saw the argument from inside and called 911.

Coward hid in the house and did nothing to stop it from happening.

He probably didn’t have time. You can’t be so judgmental based on one article.

    • Nate

If he had tried to stop it the headline would probably read “Police investigate Iowa double murder suicide”.

You are a heartless jerk….You weren’t there and don’t know what happened, the time he had, or what the 911 operator was telling him. I will keep you in my prayers that you get a heart some day soon. Keep your rude hurtful comments to yourself enough pain has come from this event.

You’re right Paul. The coward here is the doctor. I imagine that the new boyfriend is age appropriate and was scared out of his mind – as I would be. I feel so sorry for the young lady and her family.
