Two Kids Stumble Across Body In Mississippi River

MINNEAPOLIS -- St. Paul Police are trying to identify a body pulled from the Mississippi River.

The body was discovered by two children at 1:09 p.m. Saturday near the area of South Joy Avenue and West Water Street.

Sgt. Paul Paulos says the body was located near a main railroad trestle by the Union Pacific railroad bridge. The kids who discovered the body quickly told railroad workers, who then called police.

"It's unclear who this person is at this time," Paulos said. "We're working with our partners at the Ramsey County medical examiner's office to determine who the party was that was found floating in the river."

Paulos says the man didn't have any identification on him.
