Lakeville Man Dies In House Fire
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An 84-year-old Lakeville man died Sunday from injuries sustained in a house fire earlier this month, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled Tuesday.
The man was identified as Arthur Raymond Jones. Authorities said police responded to a home in the 18000 block of Kalmar Trail on March 4 when a neighbor hadn't seen him in several days and was concerned. When authorities got inside the home, they found Jones on the kitchen floor with burns to his legs and signs of a small fire that had burned itself out in the kitchen.
Jones was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, but died Sunday. Authorities say Jones died of injuries suffered in the house fire, including smoke inhalation.
Lakeville Fire Chief Mike Meyer said it's the first fire-related death in the city in 20 years. Authorities said they don't suspect foul play in the incident, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
